Today we, (Richard and Leona Bergstrom, founders and directors of Re-Ignite), are returning to our alma mater, Westmont College, located in Santa Barbara, California. It has been over four decades since we did our undergraduate studies here so, of course, much has changed. The campus is still beautiful and the academics continue to be rigorous and highly regarded. Notably, Westmont continues to emphasize living with significance and influence. The school’s mission statement summarizes it well: Deeper Thinking. Wider Impact.
Therefore, it is not surprising that a school such as Westmont would want to continue building into the lives of their alum. The Career Development and Calling office states it exists “to help students and alum better understand who God has made them to be, discover the opportunities in our world to live out their uniqueness, and discern the variety of ways those two dimensions can come together through meaningful choices.”
That’s where Re-Ignite comes into the picture! Today, as guests of Alumni Relations, we will be a part of Homecoming festivities by presenting our Third Calling Seminar. We will challenge participants to discover and follow what God is calling them to be and do in this season of life. With years of experience added to their personal design and calling, Westmont alum stand ready to continue making an impact in the world.
We are excited to share the message, and join in affirming Westmont’s goal to (at any age):
Think for yourself. Live for others.
The relationships and experiences we have at Westmont push our faith, expand our knowledge, challenge our beliefs, and enable us to use our talents more fully in the service of Christ.
